To commemorate my wife’s 25th birthday, I designed Daliqa (based on the amalgamation of our names), a display typeface that combines the rhythmic aesthetics of calligraphic strokes with the foundations of contemporary anatomies, taking cues from the elegant flourishes in blackletter scriptures and the dramatic accents of post-modern, felt-tip marker impressions.
The unique blend of characters gave the typeface an exquisite tone of voice that ranges midway between grandeur and sanguine. The typeface, just like the evergrowing relationship between me and my wife, is still a continuous heart-work in progress, and it is now available for preview in lowercase and selected glyphs.
