➀ — WORKS
Ahmad Sadali Ramli was born into an artistic family.
His late grandfather, Ahmad Patek, was a musician from the Colonial era who composed the popular Malay folk song ‘Di Tanjong Katong’, and his late father, Ramli Ahmad, was a playwright well-known for ‘Biola Serindai’, a thriller play that caused mass-hysteria in Victoria Theatre in 1976. Fast-forward to decades later, Ahmad Sadali is a keen-eyed Art Director with years of experience in communication design. A visual enthusiast and a typo geek who is meticulous to a fault, he has produced a variety of advertising, branding and conceptual works that are fueled by insightful strategy, unique storytelling, and creative panache, at once delivering effective solutions across multiple disciplines. Ahmad Sadali is an Art Scholar for media conglomerate Singapore Press Holdings (SPH), with diverse roles in CreativeLab and Sweet, and is currently the Associate Creative Director in Media Solutions Division. An avid cinephile, he dreams of designing cover images for The Criterion Collection someday. He shares the same birthday with his role model Erik Spiekermann.

Suddenly, without the hint of a warning, Ahmad Sadali Ramli let out a war cry…“To hell with the Golden Ratio!”
Though he holds in great esteem the power of grids, Sadali is not enslaved to them. He leads, because he kerns. He bleeds, and then he blurbs. He sings to the autotunes of Pantones. He dances like animated gifs. He lives to experiment, because he believes that the science of business and design is governed by his passion to turn the rational into inspirational.
For Sadali, no breathing space is too wide to be explored, and no columns too narrow to be filled. If the briefs are far-fetched, he makes sure that the deadlines will be overstretched. If idea-killers kill his killer-ideas, he will not hesitate to resharpen his tools and start over with a clean slate. His bony fingers float like the industrious digits of a jazz pianist who is busy composing a delicate theme – rearranging, and fine-tuning, until the logo is too loud not to be missed, and the typo-glyphic play hits you between the eyes.
Sadali fantasises every day. Daydreaming is the catalyst for rumination, and a sweet intermediary for logical claptraps. Perhaps, he likes to be known as a neoteric who seeks meaning in the mundane and sees beauty in the bland. Yet he knows too well that pigeonholing is a crime. He takes absolute delight in knowing that the journey is always more important than the destination, and that results are just numbers to please KPI-centric clients.
He will not settle for mediocrity and he gets great satisfaction from seeing the fat grins on the faces of his team mates upon the completion of a long-haul stint. For him, tiny achievements are better than not trying at all. There are, after all, no shortcuts for success. Collaboration is indeed a two-way street, where every turn is a sudden discovery. So what does he have to say to the digitally disrupted world at large?
“Enough is enough! Herd instinct is strictly for sheep, and cookie-cutters belong in the kitchen! We are now in the eye of design disruption, more than ever! Jump into the seat next to me, buckle up, and let the roller-coaster ride begin!”
Suddenly, everything changes. But enough of all this rambling and rumbling.
